This is probably the most well-known myth of all and has been occupying the film industry for decades. Whether it's I Robot, where Will Smith takes on an entire army of intelligent robots, or the Matrix trilogy in which Keanu Reeves as "Neo" fights against overpowering agents in a cool leather jacket style, the AI created by humans has only one thing in mind:
To seize power and subjugate your creator.
But what is actually true?
One thing is certain, AI systems have recently made the leap into more and more areas of application at a breathtaking pace. But it must also be said quite honestly that development is still in its early stages. At the moment, modern AIs work with fixed rules. For example, a self-driving car developed in the USA cannot take part in road traffic in Europe. The AI is not able to adapt to the different conditions. The program is therefore only developed for a specific purpose and cannot train itself to learn new functions.
So we don’t need to be afraid – at least not YET.
